The Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have reached an agreement to call the ongoing strike.

Disclosing this via its Twitter handle, ASUU announced that the FG has agreed to pay universities’ eight-month salaries.

“The federal government has agreed to pay the universities’ salaries for the past eight months, so classes can resume on October 17th, 2022,” ASUU said.

“@ASUUNGR is set to call off the strike after the finalization of negotiations with the Federal Government in a matter of days,” the tweet read.

The Union also commended the leadership of the House of Representatives for the timely intervention.
