Describes governor’s action as aberration

In the light of the recent suspension of Osun state Polytechnic, Rector Dr Tajudeen Odetayo over the allegation of corruption and abuse of office, the academic staff union of polytechnic, OSPOLY, Iree chapter has suspended academic activities.

The academic union termed the suspension as an aberration against the constitution of the institution.

The President of the union,Fatai Afolabi while addressing a mammoth crowd who had gathered at the entrance of the institution to protest the suspension of Odetayo expressed discontentment over the action of the Governor.

According to him, the government of Osun state suspended the Rector abruptly, without proper procedure.

“The rector is being suspended for misappropriation, reckless and corruption, these are weighty allegations that you can’t just attach with anyone without substantive evidence, and that could be said to be a personal vendetta and absolute act of nepotism, and for this reason, there wouldn’t be examination or lectures until this is resolved” he added.

However, the demonstration took a new dimension when students believed to be from the daily part time wing raised placards with the inscription “We want to write exam”.

Edugist gathered that their examination is presently going on with the union staff withdrawal from the process it has stopped.

The situation however got more tensed when the students started throwing sachet water at the union executive who asked them to go home as a way of expressing their dissatisfaction for obstructing their examination.

The daily part time students who also joined the protest also lamented that the current situation stating that it will affect their on going examination.

“we want to write our exams,we are begging the authorities but why the confusion about the suspension” Sunday a DPT student told Edugist.
