In a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the governing council and management of the institution formally invite him as the guest lecturer for the institution’s 13th convocation lecture.
The event is scheduled for Saturday February 3, 2024, featuring the compelling topic, “Closing the Generational Gap Between the Old and Young in Nigerian Politics.”
During the visit, Daramola praised Omotoso’s second-term appointment, citing it as a testament to his exceptional contributions to Lagos State’s growth.
Daramola highlighted the commissioner’s achievements and expressed confidence that his participation would be a milestone for Caleb University.
Notably, Caleb University, the first Private University in Lagos with over 6000 students, has faced challenges over the years, but Professor Daramola acknowledged the steadfast support from the Lagos State government, especially in addressing certificate of occupancy issues.
The convocation lecture is set to mark a historic moment for Caleb University, graduating 1,200 students, including nine PhD scholars.
Distinguished guests expected at the ceremony include the Governor of Benue State, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who will be honoured with an honorary doctorate degree award.
In response, Omotoso expressed humility at being chosen outside academia for such a prestigious occasion.
He commended the university’s robust relationship with the Lagos State government and accepted the nomination, emphasizing the relevance of the chosen topic in the current political landscape.
The Permanent Secretary, Olumide Sogunle, praised Caleb University for recognizing the ministry and anticipated a more robust relationship between the university and the Lagos State government.
He assured continued support, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to the #GreaterLagos vision.
