Delta State has emerged overall winner of the 2017 edition of the NNPC National Quiz which took place Tuesday at the NNPC Towers in Abuja.
Isioma Ifeanyichukwu of Federal Government College, Warri, Delta State, beat 17 other finalists, representing 17 states of the federation to emerge overall Winner.
Isioma, first beneficiary of the upgraded prize system, will enjoy a scholarship of N300,000 per session throughout his tertiary education.
Abia State, represented by Benjamin Chinueze of Dority International Secondary School, Aba, emerged the first runner-up, while Ondo State, represented by Akingbulugbe Oluwatobiloba of Hallmark Secondary School, Ondo, emerged the second runner-up.
Speaking at the event, Group Managing Director of The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr. Maikanti Baru while congratulating all the finalists said the corporation is extending its educational development programme to North-East states, as part of its contribution towards improving the standard of education in the country.
He said that despite the activities of insurgents in the region, the North-East states were included in the programme and they competed fairly.
The North-East states were represented by Adamawa, Borno and Taraba. The states were among the 18 that made it to the grand finale.
