The management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma has hailed Governor Monday Okpebholo for the favourable policies initiated by him, which have helped to reposition the institution.
The management, through the Principal Assistant Registrar/Head, Information and Public Relations, Otunba Mike Aladenika, yesterday in Benin, while meeting with reporters, said following Okpebholo’s special intervention, the state university was rising again.
He noted that with the Okpebholo-appointed Governing Council, chaired by Chief Dan Orbih, the higher institution was being repositioned.
He also spoke about the dilapidated structures in the university, noting that for the eight years of the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki, not much was done to address the challenge.
The spokesman said: “It would not have been out of place, if Obaseki’s government had used its contractors to build or renovate structures and subsequently inaugurate and hand them over to AAU, but such never happened.
“The positions of principal officers of the higher institution have been declared vacant. Persons with prerequisite qualifications are urged to apply, as advertised by the Governing Council.
“With members of the Governing Council on board, the school environment is peaceful, as the students and lecturers are carrying out their learning activities in a friendly environment.
“It should be known that workers of AAU are still on N18,000 minimum wage, while their counterparts in the civil service are on N70,000, which is provocative.”
Aladenika pleaded with Okpebholo’s administration to continue its intervention in the development of AAU, to move the higher institution forward.
