The Nigerian University of Technology and Management (NUTM) has received a donation of 10 million naira from eTranzact International Plc, a fintech company powering payment solutions.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of eTranzact, Niyi Toluwalope visited the campus of NUTM at Landmark Village, Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday. Toluwalope expressed faith in the university’s vision and pledged to be a lifelong supporter in any way he can.
eTranzact is a pioneer in Nigeria’s e-payment system and digital economy. The company rode on the back of the Global Systeme Mobile (GSM) telephone licences that were auctioned and licensed in 2001. Many people did not anticipate that the telcos would enjoy the kind of growth witnessed in the past few years.
Given the fintech’s strategic position in Nigeria’s digital ecosystem, this donation opens a critical relationship between it and NUTM.
The Nigerian University of Technology and Management is a Nigerian tertiary education institution founded to provide world-class science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and management academic excellence in Africa at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
NUTM’s goal is to produce 5,000 STEM leaders by 2030 and to eventually be ranked as one of the top 50 global STEM education institutions.
