The Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has vowed never to ignore the educational needs of children in the public and private schools across the 11 Local Government Areas of the state.

Yahaya made this announcement on Thursday at the inauguration of the Better Education Service Delivery for All State Safeguard Team and BESDA Safeguard and Local Government Education Regulating Team at the Federal College of Education Gombe.

The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, said 1,466 teachers and 928 head teachers in the selected Schools for the two literacy programs had been trained, with relevant materials distributed to the pupils and teachers.

He informed that the school support officers had been selected, trained to effectively support and supervise teaching and learning of literacy in primary one of the selected Schools.

“The government is not unmindful of the growing agitations for remuneration and promotions which started well before now.

“I want to assure you that in the near future we will put smile in the faces of our teachers across the state. After all, no nation grows beyond the status of its teacher. And for our golden teachers, to whom much is given much is expected.

“Our administration looks up to you to change the tide in the quality of education in Gombe State,” he stated.

He, therefore, implored members of the committee to work hard towards ensuring that children are protected in schools.
