The International Conference for Africa Sustainable Development (ICASuD) 2023 Committee members visited Anchor University in Lagos on August 31 to solidify its partnership with the school. The delegation was warmly received by the university’s management, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor S. O. Bandele, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC), Professor J. O. Fatokun.
The meeting commenced with opening prayers led by Emmanuel Okoh, PhD, who also served as the Secretary for ICASuD 2023. While the VC apologised for his absence, Professor Fatokun introduced the members of the Anchor University management, followed by the Chair of ICASuD 2023 introducing the committee members.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss a proposal from ICePRIL, seeking a partnership with Anchor University to host ICASuD 2023. Professor Fatokun reaffirmed the Vice Chancellor’s approval of this partnership, expressing hope for fruitful discussions on the conference’s logistics and its potential positive impact on the economy.
Ayodotun Stephen Ibidunni, PhD, the Chair of ICASuD 2023, highlighted the conference’s background and objectives, emphasizing its role in connecting academic discussions with industry practices to improve African policies. He cited examples of previous keynote speakers, including Ndubuisi Ekekwe and Prof. Lilac Nachum, who contributed significantly to the conference’s success.
For ICASuD 2023, Professor Susanne Pertl and Professor Mondy Gold were announced as the keynote speakers, aiming to attract professionals interested in Africa’s development. The committee stressed the importance of choosing a partner institution that shares its Christian values and is open to a lasting collaboration.
The Anchor University management expressed their support for the conference’s success, discussing arrangements for physical conference delegates’ accommodation and meals. Taiwo Akinde, PhD, inquired about the conference’s official website to keep interested participants informed.
Ebes Esho, PhD, mentioned ICASuD’s growing international partnerships, highlighting collaborations with journals worldwide. The incoming DVC, Prof. Oyero, discussed the AUL Journal of Humanities, Social, and Management, adding to the synergy between ICASuD and Anchor University.
The meeting concluded with a tour of the university’s facilities, including the conference hall, cafeteria, and guest house. It ended with closing prayers offered by Ayodele Faniran, PhD, the university’s bursar, and a group photo.

The visiting team from ICASuD 2023 was pleased with the quality of the services received at the Cafeteria, the serene environment and location of the Guest House coupled with the warm reception of the Receptionist.
