Kano State education board hosts CPE, others to address community engagement in education

In a bid to foster community involvement and improve educational outcomes, the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) of Kano State convened a two-day stakeholders meeting on March 19th and 20th, 2024.

The event, held at a prominent venue, aimed at validating and adopting the Kano SUBEB framework for community and citizen engagement in work plan development and implementation.

Diverse stakeholders including concerned parents and educators’ groups were invited to partake in the deliberations.

Among them, the “Concerned Parents and Educators Initiative” stood out, represented by Malam Garba Tasiu, who eloquently articulated the organization’s perspectives.

The overarching goal of the gathering was to promote transparency and inclusivity in educational decision-making processes.

By involving citizens and communities, the government of Kano State seeks to not only disseminate crucial information but also to incorporate public feedback into policy formulation and implementation.

“This meeting underscores the government’s commitment to collaborative governance and acknowledges the invaluable role of citizens in shaping educational policies,” remarked a spokesperson for the Kano SUBEB.

Participants lauded the initiative as a significant step towards democratizing education and empowering local communities.

The interactive sessions provided a platform for stakeholders to share insights, suggestions, and concerns, thus fostering a sense of ownership and accountability among all involved parties.

“We sincerely appreciate Kano SUBEB and its current chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Kabir, for the kind honor extended to the Concerned Parents and Educators Initiative,” expressed Garba Tasiu, reflecting on the fruitful exchange of ideas during the meeting.

The event concluded with a sense of optimism and renewed commitment to collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing educational quality and access across Kano State.
