Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, on Tuesday distributed educational materials to schools at the Government House, Katsina.

The materials include 25,000 copies each of Mathematics, Computer Science and English Language textbooks for Basic 4-6 pupils, 18 buses for project coordination and special needs equipment for the School for the Blind.

Also, as part of the infrastructure development plan, Radda announced the disbursement of ₦4.737 billion to 150 primary schools identified with significant infrastructure deficits.

“These funds will support the construction of classroom blocks, toilet facilities and water infrastructure to advance the administration’s goal of creating conducive learning environments across the state,” Radda said.

To enhance monitoring and evaluation, the governor distributed 70 motorcycles to quality assurance officers across the 34 local government areas of the state.

“The administration has also prioritised security through the installation of CCTV cameras in schools and provided essential materials including school bags, uniforms and exercise books to students from underprivileged communities,” he added.

The governor called on School-Based Management Committees and community members to take ownership of the projects, emphasising the importance of maintenance and community involvement in protecting school infrastructure.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving teachers’ welfare, noting that a system of rewards for dedicated educators has already been implemented, saying, “These interventions represent our administration’s unwavering commitment to transforming education in Katsina State.

“By providing the necessary resources and infrastructure, we are creating an environment where every child can excel and thrive.”

He also announced a reform in the education sector as he issued directives against arbitrary teacher transfers.

“Teacher transfers must be based solely on genuine needs, not personal interests,” he noted, as he hinted that he would personally conduct school visits to ensure compliance and monitor punctuality.
