In commemoration of the 2024 Africa Day, MultiChoice has underscored the crucial role of education in nurturing and sustaining talents within the African entertainment industry.

Speaking on the occasion, MultiChoice emphasised the continent’s vast but untapped potential, stressing the need for organizations to address Africa’s educational challenges.

This, they argue, will ensure that students acquire skills directly relevant to their future development and that of the continent.

Aligning with this year’s Africa Day theme, “Educate an African fit for the 21st century,” MultiChoice reaffirmed its commitment to preparing aspiring industry professionals through sustainable education initiatives like the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF).

According to Mr. John Ugbe, CEO of MultiChoice West Africa, “An MTF survey revealed that approximately 92% of MTF Academy graduates pursue careers in the creative sector, with many securing positions at MultiChoice, Africa’s most-loved storyteller.”

“This high absorption rate underscores another vital aspect of education in Africa’s developmental journey: unlocking the immense potential of the continent’s youthful population,” he added.

Ugbe further highlighted, “Education is what will transform Africa’s 400 million young people, aged between 15 and 35, into a generation of doctors, lawyers, financiers, engineers, and media professionals.”

Africa Day is celebrated annually on May 25th to commemorate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in May 1963.
