The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted approval of 10 new Courses for Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
The ten new courses according to the Institution’s Registrar, Mr Abiodun Oloyede, were domiciled in the Faculties of Engineering; Science, Information and Communication Technology and Management Studies.
A Statement signed by Director of Polytechnic Programmes, Arc Ngbede Ogoh, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Board, Professor Idris Bugaje stated that ” with reference to the Resources Inspection exercise carried out by the Board at your Institution from 7th-10th February, 2024, I am directed to inform you that the Board has granted approval to your Institution to offer the following programmes with effect from 2023/2024 academic session.”
The approved new courses at the National Diploma (ND) levels include; Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Water Resources Engineering Technology, Agricultural Technology, Geological Technology,
Health Information Management and Public Administration.
Others also approved at the Higher National Diploma (HND) Levels are; Agricultural and Bio-Enviromental Engineering Technology (Farm Power and Machinery Option), Agricultural and Bio-Enviromental Engineering Technology (Soil and Water Option), Agricultural and Bio-Enviromental Engineering Technology (Post-Harvest Option) and Science Laboratory Technology (Physics with Electronics Option).
The Osun State Polytechnic according to the Statement is expected to commence the programmes in the 2023/2024 Academic Session
While reacting to the approval of the courses, the Rector of the Institution, Mr. Kehinde Alabi, who dedicated the success of the accreditation to the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, said he would not relent on his oars to ensure that the Polytechnic becomes the best among comity of Polytechnics in Nigeria.
He reiterated his commitment to ensure that graduates of the polytechnic are self reliant after their graduation as they are well groomed in science and technology.
The Rector declared that “I dedicate this success to the executive Governor of the State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke who gave me the mandate to contribute to raise the bars of Science and Technology in the Institution, he is a man of vision and I am determined to support his vision to uplift technology in the State through the polytechnic education.
“With the new courses, diplomates of the Polytechnic would be self employed, reliant and employers of labour”, the Rector exclaimed.
The Rector thanked the Polytechnic Governing Council led by Honourable Diran Ayanbeku for their unflinching support to ensure that the accreditation of the new courses succeeded
