The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted full accreditation to 18 programmes at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, and approved eight additional programmes for the institution.

This milestone was announced by the Rector, Prof. Salisu Usman, through a statement issued by Uredo Omale, the Director of Public Relations and Protocol, and shared with newsmen on Tuesday in Lokoja.

The accreditation, conducted between December 18 and 20, 2024, marks a significant achievement for the polytechnic, which has consistently demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence. Prof. Usman highlighted that all 27 programmes assessed during this period received full accreditation, building on the institution’s previous success in 2022 when all 30 submitted programmes were fully accredited.

“This 100 per cent quality assurance success is a testament to our dedication to academic stability and excellence,” Usman remarked. He emphasized that no programme was denied or granted interim accreditation, showcasing the polytechnic’s unwavering standards.

Of the 57 programmes offered at the institution, 19 were introduced under Prof. Usman’s administration, accounting for 33.3 per cent of the total. The rector praised the collective efforts of the institution’s staff and management, attributing the success to their dedication and support throughout the accreditation process.

Acknowledging the role of state leadership, Usman expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmed Ododo for his steadfast support and for fostering an environment conducive to the polytechnic’s growth.

Looking ahead, Prof. Usman reiterated his commitment to elevating the polytechnic’s status to serve as a model for other institutions in Nigeria and beyond. “The programmes granted full accreditation will take effect from the 2024/2025 academic session,” he confirmed.

The newly approved programmes, set to commence following resource inspection, include HND Civil Engineering Technology, HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option), HND Building Technology, HND Architectural Technology, HND Surveying and Geo-Informatics, ND Printing Technology, ND Fashion Design and Clothing Technology, and ND Mass Communication.

This development positions Kogi State Polytechnic as a beacon of academic excellence, poised to provide top-tier education and technical training in Nigeria.
