A non-governmental organisation, Crescent Bearers (1939), Lagos, has pledged support for the development of teachers in the state.

The Chairman of Crescent Bearers, Dele Martins, said the group was committed to continuing to work alongside the Lagos State Government in this area.

The organisation noted its dedication to training teachers in modern teaching techniques in schools in Lagos and providing scholarships to students.

The NGO also stated that it trained over 100 teachers in the use of technology, particularly gamified learning techniques.

A Wednesday statement noted that the training, held last Saturday, resulted in constructive noise and made the sessions both informative and engaging.

The Chairman of the Education Committee of Crescent Bearers, Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), pledged the organisation’s commitment to empowering teachers while urging them to acquire more knowledge through such exercises.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission, Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, presented a paper on Neurodiversity and Inclusion, while Azeez Aliu participated in a panel discussing Lagos State’s strategies on Neurodiversity and Inclusion in the education system.

The Lead Consultant/Facilitator of Brainy Oaks Education Consultants, Oyinkan Afolabi, emphasised the essence of future-focused training for teachers leading 21st-century learners.

“The training aimed to empower teachers to meet the needs of a diverse, tech-savvy, and globally connected generation of learners,” she said.

The training, according to the facilitator, also aims to empower teachers “as lifelong learners and ethical role models by developing competencies in pedagogy, classroom management, and subject expertise while embodying professionalism through ethics, adaptability, and commitment.”
