The Government of Namibia under the auspices of the National Council of Higher Education (NCHE) has approved the appointment of Professor Austin Nosike as Chairperson of Institutional Audit Panel. In an official statement signed on October 23, 2024 by the Deputy Executive Director of Council, Ms Sylvia Demas, the Council, in the exercise of its powers conferred by Government of Namibia through the 2003 Higher Education Act no.26 of the Parliament and Article 56 of the Constitution at its meeting approved the appointment of Professor Nosike as Chairperson of the Institutional Audit exercise at Welwitchia University.
The appointment is in line with best global practices in headhunting for strategic positions in the management of higher educational institutions (HEI). The statement stated that the appointment which is based on qualification, experience and credentials is expected to usher in an era of innovation and academic eminence. It noted that a scholar of Prof Nosike’s status with a proven track record in higher education and an outstanding commitment to fostering learning and research, he is balanced to make a sustainable impact on university audit and the broader academic community.
Professor Nosike is Deputy Vice Chancellor at International University of Equator, Bujumbura Burundi in charge of academic leadership, resource mobilization and research administration. He was previously appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor at Copperstone University, Kitwe-Zambia. The erudite Professor will assume his new role with effect from November 11, 2024 Prof Nosike’s career cuts across journalism, administration, and academic. He worked as a Freelance Reporter for Daily Star Newspapers and later as Assistant Editor at Newsflash Magazine. He began his lecturing career in 1994 at Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna State and later as a visiting lecturer at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, between 1995 to 1996.He has three decades of experience in higher education and human capacity building as a scholar and consultant. He has held several positions as Head of Department; Director; Dean and Registrar in the university system across the globe.
The Nigerian Professor of Economics and Business has served as Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies at University of Kigali (UoK); Visiting Professor of Management at Kigali Independent University(ULK); and Uganda Pentecostal University, Fort Portal; Visiting Scholar of Globalization and Development at Universidad de Basque Country, Gipuzkoa-Spain; President, Development Africa Consortium, a leading international consulting and research institution founded in 1996 and President, African Academy of Economics. Professor Nosike has held several teaching, research, consulting and senior management positions at African Institute of Management, Technology and Development Studies; Metropolitan International University(MIU); Uganda Management and Technology University(UTAMU); Avance International University; Kaduna Polytechnic; Nigerian Defence Academy; Technological and Economic Development Mission-(TEDEM);Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri; The African Management Institute, African Union Commission, Addis Ababa-Ethiopia and a number of other international agencies, governments and civil societies. He has also held appointments at Ballsbridge University; Granada Management Institute (Universidad de Granada), Granada-Spain; Afro-Euro Centre for Development Studies and Mediterranean Centre for Social and Educational Research (Sapienza University), Rome-Italy.
Professor Nosike has supervised to completion several PhD candidates and Masters Students. His leadership, mentorship and research experience is enviable as he guides his team of postgraduate students through the research journey. He is a Chartered Administrator; Fellow of Board of Quality Standard: Fellow of Institute of Policy Management Development; Fellow of Chartered Institute of Professionals amongst others.
Professor Nosike is a recipient of several research grants and has received many awards of recognition to his credit. He won First Prize Essay Award, 1992 International Essay Competition for Nigerian University Students (Forum for the Advancement of Nigeria, Philadelphia-USA).He has received other awards,honours, recognition and prizes including the West Coast University Research Award; Central European University Fellowship Award; Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Travel Research Grant Award; International Institute of Human Rights Fellowship Award; Imo State Government Scholarship Award (Imo State Scholarship Board);International Youth of the Year Award(Africa), International Biographical Centre, Cambridge England; Marquis Who’s Who in the World; International Who’s Who of Professionals, North CarolinaUSA;20th Century Award for Achievement in Education; Dictionary of International Biography and Special Commendation from the Chairman of Editorial Board, Imo Newspapers Ltd (The Statesman).

Prof Nosike, a native of Emii, Owerri North, was born in the family of Raphael Iwuamadi Nosike and Annastecia Onumaraekwu Nosike (née Nnodim). After his elementary and secondary education in Imo State, he proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1993.He received his graduate education at Imo State University, Owerri; the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Port Harcourt; Centre for Social Studies(CSS),Warsaw-Poland; University of Lancaster, United Kingdom; Central European University(CEU), Budapest-Hungary and International Institute for Human Rights, Strasbourg-France. He holds Master’s degree in Management from Universidad Catolica de Murcia(UCAM), Murcia-Spain; PhD in Economics from Universidad Central de Nicaragua; MSc Accounting and Finance and a PhD in Business Administration from Universidad Azteca, Chalco-Mexico.
Professor Nosike has over 150 publications to his credit. He maintains consulting status with several governments, international agencies and NGOs and has worked on a number of research projects and human capacity-building initiatives centered on globalization and development management, business environment, public/social policy, finance, consumer behaviour, industrial relations, environmental management, human ecology, project management, social/corporate reengineering, gender, peace, security and human rights. He speaks two international languages (Spanish and English) and is happily married with children.
