Nile University records another milestone in Medical Education

In a ceremony that marks another significant milestone in the annals of medical education, Nile University of Nigeria celebrated its 2nd Medical Attestation Ceremony, inducting 48 new medical doctors into full practice.

The event had in attendance dignitaries from the Government, Regulatory Agencies, such as the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), and the National Universities Commission (NUC). Some of the guests in attendance included H.E Dr. Emmanuel Akabe (Deputy Governor, Nasarawa State), H.E Alh. Mannir Yakubu (Fmr. Deputy Governor, Katsina State), Hon. Yakubu Dati (Fmr. Commissioner of Information, Plateau State, Associate Prof. Fatima Kyari and Dr. Nnaemeka Nwakanma (Registrar and Dep. Registrar MDCN respectively), Dr. Chris Maiyaki (Ag. Executive Secretary, NUC), The Guest Speaker and Medical Elder Prof. King Daving Terna Yawe, Prof. Tahir Abdulrahman (Fmr. Chief Medical Doctor, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital), and proud Parents.

In his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor of Nile University, Professor Dilli Dogo, congratulated the newly inducted medical doctors for their unwavering dedication and rigorous commitment to their studies and clinical practice. He urged the fresh graduates to continue to uphold the university’s values and be exemplary ambassadors in their professional endeavours. Professor Dogo also extended heartfelt gratitude to the parents, acknowledging their substantial sacrifices that culminated in this momentous achievement. He further expressed appreciation to the Federal Government of Nigeria for its continuous support in fostering an environment conducive to educational excellence.

The high points of the 2nd Attestation ceremony included the solemn swearing-in and oath-taking by the new medical doctors, symbolizing their readiness to serve and uphold ethical standards in their practice. Each of the 48 graduates received essential medical tools, a symbolic gesture equipping them for their new roles. Special awards and recognition were given to the top three graduates: Airede Adonijah, Duke Victoria, and Suleiman Amira, who received award plaques and monetary prizes for their outstanding academic performances.

Valedictorian Airede Adonijah, the overall best-graduating student with an impressive 10 distinctions in 10 courses, in an emotional speech expressed profound gratitude to Nile University for fulfilling its promise of producing world-class medical practitioners. He acknowledged the relentless support from the university’s staff and faculty of the College of Health Sciences, which was instrumental in the success of the medical graduates. Airede also paid tribute to the parents of the new medical doctors for their unyielding support, emphasizing the collective effort that contributed to their achievements.
