The NYSC State Coordinator, Plateau State, Mr. Jonathan Yavala has stated that 62 Corps Members who read Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) were registered in the ongoing 2024 Batch “B” Stream II Orientation Course in the state.

He made this known at an interview with Pressmen when asked to shed some light on allegation by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South West Zone, via Opera Mini news on social media, that NYSC had refused to register graduates of SLT from Polytechnics who are not registered with their Professional Body – the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory technology.

The State Coordinator responded that contrary to this; out of the 62 SLT graduates registered in camp, 52 finished from the polytechnic the majority of whom are not registered with their supervisory professional body. Only 10 out of the number graduated from the university. He added that registration criteria across all NYSC camps are the same.

In a separate interview with some SLT graduates, Corps Member Precious Aighwi (PL/24B/3239), a University of Benin graduate, Ruth Funmilayo Oyetunde (PL/24B/3112) who graduated from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and Inyang Okon Effiong (PL/24B/2828) a graduate of Temple Gate Polytechnic, Aba, Abia State all stated that as graduates of SLT, their registration went seamlessly even though thy are not registered with the NISLT.
