The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a stern directive to its members, cautioning them against participation in the upcoming nationwide anti-inflation protest.
The protest, themed “End Bad Governance in Nigeria,” is slated to occur from August 1 to August 10 and aims to address the escalating rates of inflation and poor governance in the country.
Yetunde Baderinwa, the NYSC Lagos Coordinator, emphasized that corps members have a critical role in fostering national unity and must abide by the organization’s policies, which strictly prohibit involvement in protests.
“Corps members are ambassadors of national unity and cohesion,” Baderinwa stated. “Their participation in protests contradicts the core values and mission of the NYSC.”
Baderinwa further elaborated that the NYSC’s mandate includes the promotion of harmony and cohesion within the nation.
She warned that any corps member found violating this policy would face severe disciplinary actions in accordance with NYSC regulations.
“The NYSC’s policy is non-negotiable. Corps members must adhere to it to avoid punitive measures,” she added.
The NYSC urges corps members to remember their role in fostering a unified Nigeria and to steer clear of activities that could potentially disrupt national harmony.
