Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, in collaboration with the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria, has successfully conducted a groundbreaking free healthcare programme providing crucial medical services to more than 500 public primary school pupils.
In an impressive showcase of community care, Olomowewe Street, off Olateju Street, witnessed an influx of early morning crowds over three days, despite inclement weather, as residents eagerly registered for the extensive healthcare services.
Nureini Babajide, Supervisor for Health, commended the LCDA Chairman, Hon Rasaq Ajala (HRA), for spearheading the initiative and ensuring the seamless execution of this exceptional programme directly benefiting the community.
The health initiative included comprehensive screenings such as ophthalmological examinations, dental treatments, high blood pressure tests, and various medical interventions.
Babajide emphasised the programme exceptional nature, praising its positive impact on diverse health conditions within the LCDA.
Acknowledging the support from the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria, Babajide expressed gratitude for their collaborative efforts, recognising the significance of this year’s health programme.
Beneficiaries, including Olanrewaju Elegbeleye, Wasiu Agboola Olomowewe, and Bello Abiola, conveyed their appreciation to HRA for the well-organised and impactful healthcare programme.
They offered heartfelt prayers for continued blessings upon the Council Boss and his team.
Ronke Taiwo shared a personal testimony, expressing gratitude to the council boss for uncovering her previously unknown high blood pressure condition during the health screening.
Dr Mustapha Alimi, Chairman of IMAN, Lagos Branch, highlighted the association’s two-decade commitment to supporting local healthcare initiatives.
He explained that the programme relies on financial contributions from individuals and groups, with dedicated doctors offering their services voluntarily.
“The comprehensive screenings and treatments addressed a wide range of health concerns, including eyes, diabetes, glaucoma, cataract surgery, bone pains, and dental issues,” he said.
According to him, this demonstrated the council chairman’s dedication to addressing the diverse health needs of the community, marking a significant milestone in promoting health and well-being.
