An 18-year-old female student from Niger State College of Health Sciences, Kontagora, Zubaida Sanusi, has been apprehended by law enforcement for her alleged involvement as an informant for a notorious bandit group.
The arrest unfolded as part of a broader crackdown following the capture of 37-year-old Babuga Datijo, known for his notoriety in criminal circles.
Commissioner of Police, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, on Tuesday, disclosed that the breakthrough in Zubaida’s case came during the interrogation of Babuga Datijo.
A wanted bandit, Shaibu Haruna, was discovered in Zubaida’s phone contacts, saved under the alias “Kudin-banza” (useless money).
The young student reportedly admitted to her association with Shaibu, revealing that she was introduced to him by a woman named Aisha Mohammed.
According to the police commissioner, Shaibu allegedly showered Zubaida with money in exchange for sexual favors.
As the investigation unfolded, the police traced a phone number in Kontagora linked to Zubaida, leading to the arrest of additional collaborators.
The arrestees include Motse Mohammed (47) and Aliya Mohammed (48) from Salka, Magama LGA, who were identified as intermediaries contacting the bandits and providing crucial information for a series of attacks.
Further details emerged during the probe, indicating that the bandits had transferred ten thousand naira to the informants, Motse Mohammed and Aliya Mohammed, through a Point of Sale (POS) machine located in Salka.
