Four undergraduate students from Kwara State University, Malete, have been arrested by the officers from the state police command.

According to a report, the undergraduates were arrested for their alleged involvement in the death of a fellow student.

The unfortunate incident occurred in a private hostel located outside the university premises.

The State Police Public Officer, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the arrests, revealing that the victim was brutally beaten under circumstances linked to a purported act of filming by the deceased.

According to the police spokesperson, a confrontation erupted when the accused students, including two females, confronted the person who allegedly recorded them.

The motive behind the beating was disclosed by Ejire-Adeyemi, stating, “What happened is that the incident has to do with blackmail. Two ladies were contracted to deliver something to somebody and when they went to deliver the item, they said as they were leaving the place, somebody told them that someone had recorded them.”

The altercation escalated into violence, resulting in the tragic death of a student. While the police spokesperson did not disclose the identities of the individuals involved, she confirmed that an investigation is underway. The police are diligently probing the circumstances leading to the fatal beating.

Ejire-Adeyemi emphasized, “Investigation is still ongoing. We have four suspects concerning the crime. At the conclusion of the investigation, they will be charged to court.”

The Kwara State Police Command remains committed to uncovering the truth behind this distressing incident, seeking justice for the victim and holding those responsible accountable.”
