The statement reads, “ASUU, SAZU is pleased to announce to the public the suspension of its total, comprehensive, and indefinite strike action embarked upon on the 29th of November 2024.”

“The decision was taken at an emergency congress meeting held on the 14th of December, 2024 at the Yuli Campus following fruitful engagements with the Visitor to the University, His Excellency, the Governor of Bauchi State, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir culminated into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Union and the Bauchi Government.”

“The congress observed the following points: The Union members demonstrated unwavering solidarity and determination throughout the industrial action and the Visitor’s willingness to meet with the Union displayed an encouraging openness and commitment to resolving the issues.”

Also, “The Governor not only acknowledged the Union’s concerns, but also initiated actions to address them immediately.

These developments reflect the Government’s dedication to advancing education in Bauchi State.”

“The Congress commended His Excellency for his proactive approach. As a result of these developments, Congress unanimously resolved to suspend the strike action with immediate effect.

However, the Union will remain vigilant and committed to ensuring that the agreements reached are honored,” It stressed.

The Union therefore called on all Academic Staff to resume their duties and continue their invaluable services to the university community.
