SSCE 2019: NECO Releases Results, De-Recognises 3 Schools, Blacklists 17 Supervisors

National Examinations Councl, (NECO) has disclosed the release of the 2019 June/July Senior School Certificate examination,(SSCE) results.

While announcing the release of the results on Tuesday 27th August, 2019 in Minna, the acting Registrar/Chief Executive of the Council, Alhaji Abubakar Gana, disclosed that three schools in Kastina, Kebbi and Oyo states had been recommended for de-recognition, following their involvements in mass cheating especially from where he called “Special Centers”, and 17 supervisors were blacklisted for aiding and abetting examination malpractice.

Gana acknowledged that 40,630, representing 3.53 per cent of the candidates who sat for the examination were involved in various forms of malpractices, and he promised that NECO staff who were alleged to have been involved in malpractice cases would face appropriate disciplinary action and that anyone found guilty will be dealt with accordingly.

Confirming the number of candidates for the examination, the Registrar stated that 1,163,194 registered for the examination while 1,151,016 actually sat for the examination, including a total of 146 blind candidates.

Gana added that, “The number of candidates who made five credits and above including English language and mathematics is 829,787 representing 71.559% and when compared to 2018 June/July SSCE, there is an increase of 0.11%.”
