The University of Ilorin has issued a warning to the public regarding the activities of scammers using fake social media accounts in the name of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN.
The scammers, according to the University’s management, are using social media platforms such as WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and Messenger to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The fraudsters reportedly demand payments from their victims in exchange for employment, contracts, or admission into the University.
The University, however, maintains that the Vice Chancellor does not operate on any social media platform and that the institution does not collect money from anyone for admission, employment, or contracts.
The University’s management has advised members of the public to be cautious and not fall for the antics of these unscrupulous individuals.
The warning was issued recently, in a statement signed by the University’s management.
This warning comes as a timely reminder for the public to be vigilant and not to fall prey to scammers who prey on unsuspecting individuals using various means, including social media.
The University of Ilorin has reiterated its commitment to providing quality education and services to the public and urged members of the public to report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
