The University of Pretoria (UP) has announced that applications are now open for the 2024/2025 intake of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program (MCFSP).
The program aims to support economically disadvantaged yet academically talented African youth who demonstrate a commitment to driving positive change on the continent.
Eligibility:
Prospective applicants must be Undergraduate, Honours, or Masters students who have applied and been accepted to the University of Pretoria. The application deadline is set for September 30, 2024. To be eligible, candidates must demonstrate leadership qualities and a dedication to community service, evidenced through participation in projects, school activities, or religious organizations. Additionally, scholars are expected to maintain outstanding academic performance throughout their studies.
Benefits:
Successful applicants will receive comprehensive support covering various aspects of their education and living expenses. The program will cover full tuition fees, accommodation in a UP residence, meals, books and printed materials, a modest monthly stipend, medical aid, and travel costs for one return trip during the study period. Furthermore, the program will cover the cost of one visa application for the duration of the study period.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome afterward. In the event of non-communication, applicants should assume their application was not successful.
