The event, themed around gratitude and forward-looking leadership, celebrated the 2024/2025 SPE Lagos Board while ushering in a new chapter for the section. Amid glitz, reflections, and recognition of milestones, the outstanding performance of young achievers took center stage.

Agbim Izu Derrick received the Outstanding Achievement Award from SPE International, Lagos Section, in recognition of his exceptional performance and securing 2nd Place in the highly competitive CTY contest.

His school, Whitesands School, was also specially honoured with the Distinguished Support Recognition Award for preparing and mentoring him to success.

The dual honour was presented by Section Chairperson Oladipo Ashafa and Section Secretary Chukwu Emeke, who praised both Derrick and the school for their dedication to academic excellence and youth empowerment in the energy sector.

The CTY competition is part of SPE Lagos broader effort to inspire young minds to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), particularly in petroleum engineering and related fields.
