About twelve thousand students drawn from six higher institutions in Lagos state are expected to participate in this year’s entrepreneurial and skill acquisition programme being packaged by the state government.
The programme tagged, “Ready Set Work Programme,”is designed to prepare final year students of tertiary institutions in the state for life after school. The partita ting schools include
Vice chancellor, Lagos State University ( LASU), Prof Lanre Fagbohun while calling for full participation of final year students and those on 30-400 level further explained that the programme would not only expose them to training on how to get and keep jobs, it will assist the students in building and successfully running their own businesses.
Of the expected 12,000 participants, two thousand are final year students while 10,000 others are in their penultimate year.
Already, Prof Fagboun said 700 students will be selected from LASU to participate in the programme billed to hold for 13 Saturdays’ between July 1 and September 23, this year. It will run concurrently in three centres.
The participating schools include LASU)’; University of Lagos (UNILAG); Lagos State Polytechnic ( LASPOTECH) Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education ( ACCOED); College of Health Technology and Micheal Otedola College of Primary Education.
At the maiden event in 2016, about 700 students participated from three institutions got over 100 internship placements with leading organizations who partnered the state government on the Programme.
