1. The Federal University of Technology Minna was established on February 1st, 1983.
2. It was founded as part of a federal initiative to develop universities focused on technology.
3. FUTMINNA is located in Minna, the capital city of Niger State in north-central Nigeria.
4. The university’s motto, “Technology for Empowerment,” reflects its mission to equip students with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to address real-world challenges through technological innovation.
5. In the beginning, the university took over the facilities of the former Government Teachers’ College Bosso, for use permanently.
6. The pioneer Vice-Chancellor was Professor J.O. Ndagi and he served from 1983 to 1990.
7. Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta is the current Vice-Chancellor of the university.
8. The first set of graduates from the University were 22 in 1990.
9. FUTMINNA is a specialized University of Technology.
10. HRM Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi is the Chancellor of FUTMINNA.
11. The university has two campuses. The main campus in Gidan Kwano and the mini Bosso.
12. The University is a designated Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering.
13. FUTMINNA has a core competence in the development of vaccines and drugs.
14. The Institution is listed in the Guide to Higher Education in Africa, Association of African Universities and the International Association of Universities, 1999.
15. The University Library was established in 1984 and is known as the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Library.
