Sixty-four schools from Warri and neighboring kingdoms in Delta State are gearing up for the 2025 Ogiame Atuwatse III Intercollegiate Quiz and Debate Competition, with a grand prize of N10 million.
The competition, announced by His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III last October through his Sole Representative Liaison to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Prince Collins Edema, aims to provide educational opportunities for the children of Warri Kingdom and Delta State.
At a press conference held at Nana College, Warri, Edema expressed the monarch’s deep appreciation for the schools participating in the event. “I want to convey the heartfelt gratitude of His Majesty to all schools present here today, for being available to participate in this intercollegiate competition,” he said, emphasizing that the education of the Warri and Delta children is a priority for the monarch.
The competition will feature subjects in science and current affairs, with the N10 million prize as the main attraction, alongside other gift prizes for participants. Quiz Project Lead, Coker Tuoyo, highlighted that the event is designed to foster educational growth among young minds. The 64 schools, divided into 16 groups, will compete across eight rounds, starting in January and culminating in June.
