STUDENTS of Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children, Lagos, recorded 98 per cent success in the 2015 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), organised by the National Examination Council (NECO).
Principal of the school, Rev. Sr. Jane Onyeneri, who made the disclosure at the 2015 graduation ceremony/exhibition of creative art, held at the Cardinal Anthony Okogie’s Hall, Surulere, Lagos, enjoined the graduands to be good ambassadors of the school and always make the school proud through their excellent conduct in academics and sundry exercises.
Specifically, she charged the them to be law abiding, respectful and to always focus and pay great attention to their academic pursuits.
Said Onyeneri, “As you enter this new phase of life, we pray that God will give you wisdom, understanding and fear of God to make good decisions.
We pray also that God will give you the moral courage and stamina to live exemplary lives. To those who are dreaming to be realistic, I will encourage you to keep dreaming but make that dream a reality. “The diploma you are holding today is just your learner’s permit for the rest of the drive through life.
Remember, you do not have to be smarter than the next person; all you have to do is be willing to work harder than the next person.”
She disclosed that aside academic works, the school’s training regimen also includes vocational skills that would help the students to be self-reliant, hence the showcase of their creative art works, which include tie and dye, table mats, necklaces, key holders, and slippers, among others.
The principal, who appreciated the gesture of Fidelity bank, which donated 20 typewriters to the graduating students and an unspecified sum of money to the school, appealed to well meaning Nigerians to extend kind gestures to the school, in order to continue to develop the talents inherent in the students.
Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Achazie Anthony, in his remarks called on Nigerians to give a helping hand to physically challenged people in the society and carry them along.
