Professor Olusola Kehinde of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, has assumed office as the new vice-chancellor of the institution.
According to a report, Kehinde was installed as the seventh substantive VC of the institution on Monday April 2, 2023.
Kehinde took over from Prof. Felix Salako, who served in an acting capacity for five months.
Speaking shortly after his investiture, Kehinde said he had set his sight on positioning FUNAAB among the top five universities in Nigeria and the top 100 in Africa over the next five years.He declared that the “university is in dire need of positioning for the new trends in global education.”
The VC said, “The 21st-century FUNAAB shall be one committed to creating a platform for the provision of equal access to qualitative educational opportunities for all at all levels, and one committed to the inculcation of national consciousness, values, national unity, development of appropriate skills including mental/physical/social abilities, and the competencies needed to equip individuals to live in, and contribute positively to national and global development.”
He stressed that academic standards must never be compromised, and the university must create an environment where individuals could thrive and develop according to their needs and potential.“
I am well aware that the task ahead of us is a daunting one, but I am confident that with the help of the Almighty God, the university Governing Council, staff, students, support from our host community and other relevant stakeholders, we shall achieve this lofty vision of ours,” he said.
