A 400-level student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo state, Oluwatobi Ogunmola, who was declared missing four days ago, has been reportedly found dead.
Ogunmola’s body was found dead hanging in a bush at Gambari Village in the Surulere Local Government area of the state.
Ogunmola, was a student of Physics department. He was also a mobile phone technician and solar system consultant.
Friends on Facebook described him as a calm and reserved person.
One of his Facebook friends, Adeleke Abel Ayoade, wrote on his page to sympathise with the family.
“In time like this, we sympathise with the family of Ogunmola Taiwo on the death of (their) son who was found dead, he said.
Abel pray to God to console the family and rest the soul of the deceased.
In an unrelated event, another student from the Federal University, Otuoke in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa state was found dead at a swimming pool of an event centre situated withing the community.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the spokesperson of Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat.
Butswat said the corpse was identified as Bright Akhere, a 21-year-old student student of the Department of Mathematics & Statistics Education.
The deceased, was said to have gone with his friends for a swimming exercise on April 24 but never returned.
“On 25th April 2023, at about 2000 hours, the Command got a report that a corpse was found floating in a swimming pool at a popular event Center at Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area.
“A team of operatives visited the scene and evacuated the corpse to the mortuary for autopsy.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the deceased Bright Akhere, 21 years, a student from the Department of Mathematics in the Federal University Otuoke, was with his friends at the swimming pool the previous evening, 24th April and the friends left the pool at about 1700 hours” Buswat said in the statement.
The spokesperson added that the police were now trailing the friends of the deceased.
He assured that the team will unravel the circumstances surrounding the suspected drowning of the student.
