Following the approval and granting of operating license for Ondo seaport by the Federal Government, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South-West, has facilitated with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
NANS in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Comrade Awoyinfa Opeoluwa said the approval was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and vision of Akeredolu led-administration.
According to NANS, the development of a seaport will not only enhance the economy of the state but provide job opportunities and increase the state revenue as well as attract investors to the state.
The statement further added that the approval was a validation of Akeredolu administration’s commitment to the economic development of the state — a testament to the collaboration between the state government and the FG.
Furthermore, NANS said the deep seaport will undoubtedly play a vital role in the state’s economic growth and will help to attract new businesses and investments in the state.
“It will also provide an avenue for the state to tap into the enormous potentials of the maritime industry, which has been identified as the key driver of economic growth of the country,” the statement added.
NANS said they are confident that the successful implementation of the deep seaport project will further enhance the state’s reputation as a hub for business and investment, and position it as a key player in the maritime industry in the country.
The statement reads: “I’m writing to extend our heartfelt congratulations to you and the people of Ondo State on the recent approval of the deep seaport license by the Federal Government. This is indeed a momentous achievement for your administration and a significant milestone in the development of the state.
“The approval of the deep seaport license is a testament to the hard work, dedication and vision of your administration, and reflects. the positive impact that your leadership has had on the state. The development of a deep seaport will not only enhance the state‘s economy, but also provide new opportunities for job creation, increasing the state’s revenue base anc. attract more investors to the state.
“This approval is a validation of your administration’s commitment to the economic development of the state. It is also a testament to the strong collaboration between the state government and the Federal Government, which has enabled this significant achievement.
“The deep seaport will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in the state’s economic growth and will help to attract new businesses and investments to the state. It will also provide an avenue for the state to tap into the enormous potential of the maritime industry, which has been identified as a key driver of economic growth in the country.

Reacting to the approval, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu said it was an impressive parting gift from the Buhari administration.
Akeredolu in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, stated that actualising the port project was very important to his administration.
He said his administration is determined and committed to actualizing the project which will set the state on the path of economic prosperity.
“Our dream for this port of Ondo is to serve as a conduit for our goods, agricultural produce, and very soon, our bitumen,” he said.
“It is the goal of this administration to ensure that the potential of Ondo State is maximized and that all necessary infrastructure required to make this a reality is put in place to achieve this.
“We thank the minister of Transportation, Hon. Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, for his interventions and commitment. Our state is very grateful for this yeoman service. History will be kind to him.
“We equally noted with candour, the role of the Minister of State for Transportation, our own, Prince Ademola Adegoroye. Your impactful struggles and efforts have started yielding enduring fruit of development. Indeed, you have proven to be a true representative of your people. Your doggedness is admirable.
