In a recent statement, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that it has disbursed a total sum of N1,478,416,000.00 to Non-JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre owners across the country for their services rendered during the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Fabian Benjamin, PhD, head of Public Affairs and Protocol at JAMB, made this announcement in Abuja. He clarified that this amount excludes N59,585,000, which was allocated specifically for JAMB-owned CBT centres.
Benjamin emphasised the importance of promptly fulfilling financial obligations to foster a harmonious working relationship with partners who carried out their responsibilities commendably.
He highlighted that the majority of the centres used for the examination were not owned by JAMB but were instead ICT facilities of tertiary institutions. This collaborative arrangement between JAMB and privately-owned CBT centres aims to enhance service quality and inclusivity.
JAMB expressed its satisfaction with the excellent performance of the centres that provided top-notch services during the recently concluded examination. These centres were duly appreciated and compensated accordingly.
Furthermore, JAMB reiterated its commitment to providing equal opportunities for all candidates and ensuring seamless access to higher education. The Board emphasised its dedication to utilising advanced technology to deliver high-quality assessments and safeguard the integrity of its examination.
