Africa’s leading payments technology company, Flutterwave, proudly announced that it has successfully transitioned 170 of its 200 Graduate Trainees (GTs) into full-time Analyst and Engineer positions. This achievement comes at the conclusion of the inaugural GT programme, demonstrating Flutterwave’s commitment to nurturing young talent and providing clear career growth opportunities in the tech industry.
Launched in August 2022, the Flutterwave Graduate Trainee Programme was a 12-month-long paid traineeship aimed at recent graduates with limited work experience but boundless ambitions. The programme’s goal was to equip these young talents with both technical and soft skills while providing practical experience within a global organization boasting over 750 employees worldwide.
Mansi Babyloni, Flutterwave’s Global Chief People Officer, expressed her excitement, saying, “We are excited that our aim of giving 200 extremely bright young graduates opportunities to learn on the job and kick start their careers in tech early in life has finally been accomplished.” Babyloni further emphasized the myriad opportunities available to the former GTs as they transition to full-time roles.
Flutterwave’s commitment extended beyond the training program’s duration, as it accommodated the unique needs of recent graduates, including flexibility to align with their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) obligations.
To celebrate the end of this rigorous program, a #RookiestoPro graduation ceremony was held in Lagos. Chijioke Okorji, a Developer Experience Engineer 1 at Flutterwave, shared his thoughts during the event, stating, “There’s a clear difference in my growth from when I joined, to now. I have a better understanding of my career path and have acquired marketable skills that I am proud of. More organizations like Flutterwave should give young people a chance through initiatives like this.”
Bode Abifarin, Chief Operating Officer at Flutterwave, praised the efforts of the People Team and Graduate Trainee Managers in mentoring and coaching the GTs. He said, “This is in line with our mission to create endless possibilities for all; truly, their careers have taken off and there’s no limit to what they can achieve going forward.”
