In a strategic move to uphold academic excellence, the Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has announced the appointment of Kate Azuka Omenugha as the acting vice-chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU).

This development comes as part of the governor’s commitment to ensuring the continued growth and progress of the esteemed institution.

The official confirmation of Omenugha’s new role was conveyed through a statement issued by Christian Aburime, the press secretary to Governor Soludo, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

The statement outlined that the decision to appoint Omenugha was made after due consideration and in alignment with the governor’s vision for the university.

Kate Omenugha takes the reins from Greg C. Nwakoby, whose tenure as vice-chancellor of COOU has come to an end.

Nwakoby has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape of the university, and Omenugha is expected to build upon this foundation and steer the institution to new heights.

Omenugha brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served in various capacities within the academic sphere.

Her expertise and dedication to education are anticipated to contribute significantly to the advancement of COOU under her leadership.

In addition to Omenugha’s appointment, the governor has also named Louis Chukwuemeka Orakwue as the State Project Coordinator for the Anambra State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

This move underscores Soludo’s multifaceted approach to development, aiming to enhance both the educational and agricultural sectors in the state.

As Anambra State welcomes these key appointments, there is a sense of anticipation regarding the positive impact they will have on the academic and agricultural landscapes. With a new acting vice-chancellor at the helm of COOU and a dedicated project coordinator for RAAMP, Governor Soludo continues to demonstrate his commitment to fostering progress and excellence across various sectors in the state.
