Kwara state Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has presented N6 million in cheques to the exceptional winners of the 2023 Presidential School Debate of Nigeria.

The distinguished recipients, hailing from various public schools, showcased their debating prowess at the national level, bringing laurels to Kwara State.

The six triumphant students, namely Mashood Kamaldeen, Jatto Ramatallahi, Jimoh Abayomi Emmanuel, Emmanuel Chioma, Dolapo Mariam, and AbdulKareem Uswat, received accolades from Governor AbdulRazaq, who commended their outstanding achievement. Expressing pride in their success, he assured continuous government support and monitoring of their educational journey.

Governor AbdulRazaq reiterated the state’s commitment to educational development by announcing a substantial financial commitment this year. The funds will be directed towards essential programs like AGILE (Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment) and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) to enhance learning environments and ensure the safety of pupils across schools.

Addressing the gathering, the governor emphasized, “We continue to make sure you, and indeed every Kwara child, have a very conducive environment to learn.” He shed light on Kwara’s participation in the FG/World Bank-supported AGILE project, underscoring the state’s dedication to fostering a holistic educational experience.
Governor AbdulRazaq called for sustained support from teachers and parents, urging them to strengthen their commitment to the education of these promising students. He unveiled plans to invest billions in enhancing the educational curriculum and infrastructure across schools, emphasizing the state’s determination to cover most institutions.

Expressing gratitude, Governor AbdulRazaq commended the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for its remarkable improvement in commitment and assured continued support. He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of traditional institutions and sought their ongoing engagement to enhance service delivery in the education sector.

Prof Sheu Adaramaja, the chairman of SUBEB, extended gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for fulfilling his promise to the debate champions.

He disclosed that the six students would represent Nigeria at the World School Debate Championship in the Republic of Serbia in Europe later this year, further solidifying Kwara State’s reputation on the global stage.
