The eight victims who were kidnapped in Ekiti State, comprising five schoolchildren and three staff members of The Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, Emure Ekiti, have been discharged from the Ekiti State.

University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.
According to THE PUNCH “The victims, who endured six days in captivity after being abducted along the Emure-Eporo Road while returning home from school, were released last Sunday”.

Oyebanji Filani PhD, the State Commissioner for Health, expressed gratitude for the successful rescue and the medical care provided to the victims. Speaking at EKSUTH during their discharge, he emphasized the government’s commitment to returning them safely to their community.

Upon their arrival last Sunday, Prof. Kayode Olabanji, the Chief Medical Director of EKSUTH, had assured the government of providing the necessary medical attention to the victims. He noted the varying conditions of the victims upon arrival, highlighting dehydration and panic among the children. The medical team promptly administered treatments, including hydration, oxygen therapy, psychological support, and nutrition.

Dorcas Ojo, grandmother of three of the abducted schoolchildren, credited their survival to divine intervention and the prayers of the community. She recounted the trauma inflicted on the children during their captivity, including forced long-distance treks in the bush without adequate food.
