In a remarkable act of generosity and dedication to education, Tosin Eniolorunda, an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and CEO of Moniepoint, has transformed the learning experience for students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Partnering with his foundation, the Tosin Eniolorunda Foundation, and Moniepoint, Eniolorunda spearheaded the revamping of the department’s CAD & CAM lab, ensuring future engineers are better equipped to tackle the challenges of the modern world.
Reflecting on his journey, Tosin shared the motivation behind this noble initiative. “During my time at OAU, we worked with limited resources. I remember the challenges of learning in an environment where labs were not fully equipped. I didn’t want the new generation of students to face the same limitations.”
The lab, which was officially launched last week in a ceremony graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, the Dean of the Faculty of Technology, and other distinguished members of the university community, is more than just a physical upgrade. “This is about creating an environment where students can push the boundaries of engineering and design, with the tools they need to thrive in today’s world,” Eniolorunda said.
Although unable to attend the event in person, Tosin was represented by his siblings and members of the Moniepoint Group, who shared his commitment to advancing STEM in Nigeria. The newly equipped lab is seen as a vital resource that will allow students to innovate, experiment, and excel.
In his message to the students, Eniolorunda added, “To the students, this lab is now yours. Use it as your playground and personal canvas to dream big. The future is yours, and I can’t wait to see what you achieve.”
This generous donation is just a part of a broader vision held by Eniolorunda, which involves empowering Nigerian youths to use technology and innovation to solve real-world problems. Through this initiative, he aims to inspire the next generation of Nigerian engineers to dream big and make a lasting impact.
Conclusion: This development is expected to significantly enhance the educational experience at OAU’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, providing students with the necessary tools to sharpen their skills and contribute meaningfully to the engineering profession in Nigeria and beyond.
