Member representing Eti-Osa Constituency 02 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Gbolahan Olusegun Yishawu, has presented mobile tablets to the winners of the Nigerian Youth Parliament Lagos Central Inter-Secondary School Debate on Drug Abuse 2024.
The winners emerged from a rigorous two-round debate,with the theme: Pioneering a Substance-Free Generation: Youth Empowerment and Advocacy, which featured participants from 32 junior and senior secondary schools.
Among the top-performing schools were Ilogbo Junior High School and Iganmu Junior High School in the junior category. Sari-Iganmu Senior Secondary School and King’s College, Lagos excelled in the senior category.
Queen’s College, Lagos, the overall winner in the senior category, will receive a laptop prize sponsored by NiTDA.
Additionally, participating students were awarded scholarships from EduPoint, to study coding and robotics. They will also enjoy internship opportunities with Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN), thereby fostering career development and practical exposure.
These prizes and opportunities align seamlessly with the debate’s advocacy theme, ‘DoTechNotDrugs’, as well as Yishawu’s commitment to promoting youth digital capacity building and empowerment.
