The President, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Ilorin, Folorunso Adisa, was a special guest at today’s orientation programme of the Department of History and International Studies.

While welcoming the new students into the prestigious university, he leveraged the privilege granted him to urge them on the importance of morality in the academic life of a student. He stated that before any other thing morality should come first.  According to the final year student in the department of English, “Character is everything in life and an educated or learned person without character is just a sophisticated evil. I want to emphasize that when an educated person is bereft of character such a person becomes useless to both himself and the society. As such, it is important that character is placed at the front burner of our operational philosophy.”

“Discipline is one of the highways to success. An indiscipline student may not perform excellently well in his course of study,” he added.

He ended his speech with a maxim: “prompt preparation prevents poor performance.”

“Unarguably, the egg will come to roost someday. Freshmen will become finalists,” he added.
