AIIDEV Africa has launched the fourth cohort of its transformative Teach4SDGs programme. Geared towards educators across Sub-Saharan Africa, this initiative aims to equip teachers with the knowledge and tools needed to integrate the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their curricula.
The Teach4SDGs programme, spanning 12 intensive weeks, features a robust curriculum comprising over 10 advanced workshops, lectures, readings, assessments, and hands-on projects.
Participants delve into critical topics such as Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), Climate Change, Circular Economy, and Project Management, all designed to enrich educators’ understanding of sustainable practices.
The primary goal of Teach4SDGs is to empower primary and secondary school teachers to nurture a new generation of changemakers equipped to tackle global challenges. By immersing educators in SDG-focused education, the programme strives to foster heightened awareness and actionable engagement towards achieving these vital global objectives.
To ensure efficacy, the initiative will be conducted virtually, leveraging diverse learning and communication platforms. Eligible applicants—teachers from both public and private institutions—must commit a minimum of 4 hours per week to the programme, all conducted in English. The selected cohort will commence training on May 1st, 2024.
Participation promises a spectrum of benefits, including advanced knowledge in sustainability concepts, international recognition and certification, networking opportunities with fellow educators, mentorship, and practical skills development.
Interested educators within the age bracket of 20 to 45 years are encouraged to apply before the April 30th deadline via the registration link provided. AIIDEV Africa’s Teach4SDGs initiative underscores a pivotal step towards cultivating a cadre of educators poised to lead Africa towards a sustainable future.
