Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, has been awarded the Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Educational Practitioners, United Kingdom (CIEPUK).
The prestigious honor was presented in recognition of Mefor’s significant contributions to mass communication and entrepreneurial technology. Dr. Marcel Ezenwoye, Global President of CIEPUK, praised Mefor’s distinguished career, which spans over three decades and includes successful media and communication projects both locally and internationally.
“Your fellowship with other Nigerian institutions reflects your exceptional expertise and commitment to excellence,” Ezenwoye remarked during the investiture at Paul University, Awka.
In his acceptance speech, Mefor expressed gratitude to the institutions and pledged continued support for their initiatives. He also highlighted Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to education, particularly the free education program for all residents of Anambra. “Free education is a tool created to break generational poverty transfer,” Mefor said, emphasizing the transformative potential of education in lifting families out of poverty. He also noted that the free education policy benefits not only Anambra residents but also those from neighboring states, stating, “As long as you live in Anambra, you will enjoy free education.”
The Vice Chancellor of Paul University, who presented the fellowship to Mefor, also approved his request to offer lectures at the university without charge in his spare time. The university further announced plans to offer a 50% fee rebate for certain categories of students and expressed readiness to collaborate with the state government to advance education in the region.
