The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is thrilled to announce the launch of the 2024 Tax for SDGs Undergraduate Essay Competition.
This initiative is part of UNDP’s broader mission to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by leveraging innovative tax policies to support sustainable development.

Top-performing essays will be recognized with substantial prizes: the first prize winner will receive NGN 1,000,000 and a certificate of recognition, the second prize winner will get NGN 750,000 along with a certificate, and the third prize winner will be awarded NGN 500,000 and a certificate. Additionally, consolation prizes will be given to other top entries. This competition offers a platform for students to contribute to impactful policy discussions and gain recognition for their innovative ideas.
Eligibility:
The competition is open to all undergraduate students currently enrolled in a recognized Nigerian university or college. To participate, students must provide a national identification card and their university identification card as part of their submission.
Application process:
Essays should be between 1,500 and 2,000 words, written in English, and submitted in PDF format. All entries must be original and unpublished, and plagiarism or use of AI tools will lead to disqualification. Submissions must be typed, double-spaced, and sent electronically through the submission portal.
