The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) has officially opened applications for the 2024 Digital Public Infrastructure Journalism Fellowship Programme.
This initiative, supported by Co-Develop, marks Phase II of a project designed to enhance public engagement and awareness on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and Digital Public Goods (DPG) in West Africa.
Benefits:
Participants in the fellowship will gain access to extensive training and mentorship opportunities, as well as reporting grants of up to $300 per story. Fellows will receive a monthly stipend of $250 during the initial three months of the programme, while partner newsrooms will benefit from a $1,000 DPI/DPGs Newsroom Partnership Programme. Additionally, top-performing journalists will be eligible for travel grants to attend international training and events that further enhance their expertise in DPI/DPGs.
Eligibility:
The programme is seeking 60 experienced journalists from Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo. Ideal candidates should possess a strong background in journalism and demonstrate a keen interest in DPI/DPGs issues. Successful applicants are expected to produce a minimum of five stories on DPI/DPGs during the fellowship and continue to engage in network activities and reporting on these issues for an additional three months after the fellowship ends.
