The New York Times Fellowship Program 2025 is accepting applications from emerging journalists eager to gain hands-on experience in one of the world’s leading newsrooms. This paid, full-time fellowship offers comprehensive training, benefits, and a hybrid work structure, giving participants the chance to work directly with top journalists at The New York Times.
Benefits:
Fellows in the program will enjoy a range of benefits, including a competitive salary, full-time employment with benefits, and a supportive environment for professional development. Fellows work across various departments, including reporting, video, audio, graphics, and opinion, gaining exposure to multiple journalism functions. Additionally, they receive mentorship and guidance from seasoned editors and newsroom leaders, helping them refine their skills and build lasting industry connections.
Eligibility:
Ideal candidates are early-career journalists, such as recent college graduates or individuals with less than five years of paid journalism experience. Applicants must have some prior journalism experience and be authorized to work in the United States or the United Kingdom, depending on the office location. Those applying for roles in London must be eligible to work in the UK, as The New York Times does not sponsor new work visas for fellows. However, candidates with extendable visas, such as Optional Practical Training, may be considered.
Application process:
To apply, candidates must complete their applications through the New York Times careers page by December 2, 2024, at 5 p.m. Eastern Time. After creating an account, applicants should carefully follow the instructions to submit all required documents and personal information. The fellowship program is set to run from June 2, 2025, to May 22, 2026, with a hybrid work model that includes both in-office and remote days. Apply here.
