Arthur Eze, a prominent oil mogul and philanthropist, has been appointed as the inaugural Pro-Chancellor of Peaceland University (PU) in Enugu.
According to a report, Eze has graciously accepted the appointment and demonstrated his dedication by pledging a generous sum of N500 million to support the university’s development.
Peaceland University recently received approval from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to operate as one of the 37 new institutions. The journey began three years ago when the university’s promoters, planning and implementation committee approached the National Universities Commission (NUC) with their proposal.
Ihemegbunem Okafor, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, highlighted that Peaceland University is an offspring of the Peaceland project, initiated and funded by Frau Pia Meier Knuesel, a Swiss philanthropist deeply passionate about education.
Okafor further noted that Eze shares a similar commitment to improving lives and has earned recognition as one of Nigeria’s foremost philanthropists.
Expressing their gratitude to Eze, the university assured “the public that Peaceland University would quickly establish itself as a premier academic institution in the country.”
