Olarogbe Luman Olamilekan, representing Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has achieved an exceptional feat by securing the top position in the prestigious ‘2023 National Quiz competition’ organized by the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
At the closing ceremony of CITN’s 25th annual conference themed ‘Nigeria of the Future: Achieving Sustainable Development through Taxation,’ Olamilekan was declared the overall winner. Prof. Mike Nwidobie, the Chairman of the judging panel, also announced Moyosoroluwa Dada from the University of Lagos as the second-place winner.
According to a report on Thursday June 1, 2023, Anthony Babatunde Peter from Redeemers University claimed the third position, while Toheeb Adebishinn from the University of Ilorin secured fourth place.
The joint fifth position was awarded to Adekunle Elufisan from The Ibadan Polytechnic and Ashaolu Ayanfeoluwa from Landmark University, the report says.
Prof. Nwidobie revealed that the first-place winner received a prize of N300,000, the second-place winner N200,000, and the third-place winner N100,000.
Also, each of the remaining participants was awarded N50,000.
Titilayo Fowokan, chairman of the Students Affairs and Tertiary Education Relations Committee of CITN, commended all contestants and disclosed that each school represented in the competition received desktop computers.
During the gala night, the star prize of N300,000 was presented to the winner by Mr. Adesina Adedayo, the president of CITN.
