In a significant move to support education, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved a N713 million bursary award for students across the state under the 2024 Students’ Special Assistance Scheme.
This initiative is set to benefit 32,028 Delta State students in various tertiary institutions across Nigeria, according to an announcement by Dr. Godfrey Enita, Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board.
The bursary will be available to Delta State students studying in a range of institutions, both public and private, including universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, colleges of education, schools of nursing, and even military and paramilitary institutions.
“The bursary award approved by the governor covers students of Delta State origin in Public and Private Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics, Colleges of Education, Schools of Nursing Science, and other tertiary schools including Military and Paramilitary institutions,” Enita clarified in the statement released on Thursday.
Dr. Enita emphasized that only students who applied for the 2024 bursary award and meet the eligibility criteria will receive the funding.
“A total of 32,028 students are expected to benefit from the 2024 bursary award,” he said, noting that this substantial financial commitment underscores Governor Oborevwori’s dedication to the education and well-being of Delta State youth.
“This uncommon gesture by H.E Governor Oborevwori should be applauded because it demonstrates his magnanimity and goodwill towards the well-being of Delta State students and youths in general,” Enita continued. “It also underscores his commitment towards educational advancement through financial assistance to students in diverse forms and through massive infrastructural development in schools across Delta State.”
