The Principal, Babcock University School, Ogba, Lagos, Elder Gabriel Fasanu, has advised pupils to develop a keen interest in sports, saying it is an elixir for physical and emotional development.
A holistic education, he said, would not be complete without pupils getting involved in sports.
He stated this during the school’s maiden inter-house sports competition held at Ogba, Lagos.
According to him, a physically and emotionally stable pupil will be alive to his or her studies as well as do well in his academic pursuit.
It is against this backdrop, he said, the Seventh-day Adventist, owners of the school, developed interest in a holistic education.
Besides, he noted that through sports could improve pupils’ health.
Fasanu, who also urged sports administrators to look beyond football competitions, noted that talented Nigerians in other events could take the country to greater heights.
A parent, Mr. Olufemi Alonge, who represented the Parent-Teacher-Association of the school, commended the management for organising the contest for the pupils.
He also hailed the enthusiasm shown by both the members of staff and the pupils in the competition.
Alonge said, “The staff of this school take care of their students as if they are their own children, I am impressed”
The Inter-House Planning Committee Chairman, Mr. Akindilureni Olaniyi, thanked the school authorities for supporting the team, saying their assistance enabled the committee to overcome its challenges.
